It is not only a security concept: from the start, it is also an economic framework —meant to support trade facilitation, investment coordination, shared standards, cross-border infrastructure, and development projects. Inspired by the European Union model , GIU is designed to be able to evolve in that direction over time—step by step, and only where participants choose deeper integration.
